Borough Mayor

A Message from the Mayor

Welcome to the Kodiak Island Borough website.   Our newly constructed website has been designed to engage and educate the public.  I encourage you to explore the different areas of our website to learn more about your government.  We are committed to improving and expanding our ability to provide citizens with up to date information concerning the services and functions of our municipal government.

Through our page you are able to access information pertaining to the powers assigned under State law to a Second Class Borough as well as the adopted powers of the Kodiak Island Borough.  Please go to Meeting Info to access information about Borough Meetings and subscribe through Notify Me to get notification updates on topics that might be of interest to you. Our Assembly meetings and committee meetings are recorded and you can download the audio to better stay apprised of what is happening in our community.  Please click on our Code of Ordinances to look at the current rules of our Borough.   Another great resource on our website is the Map Center.    From the Map Center you can access aerial imagery of the Kodiak Island Borough and look at ownership records, assessed property values, zoning, and much more.  You can also request printed copies of portions of the map for purchase.

The desire of the Kodiak Island Borough is to be responsive to the needs of the community and we hope this website redesign helps in this effort.  The Kodiak Island Borough has many opportunities for community involvement.   If you see a committee or board that you are interested in serving on, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions at dan.rohrer@kibassembly.org or contact the Clerk’s office for further information.   We rely heavily on the volunteer service of our citizens.

Another area of opportunity for community involvement is commenting on issues before the Assembly or a committee or board.   Before every Assembly meeting, there is an opportunity for a member of the public to speak on any topic for up to 3 minutes.   If you would like to submit written public testimony please email the Clerk’s Office.    Please remember all our meetings are open to public and you are invited to attend.

We are here to serve you.   Please do not hesitate to contact us with your suggestions, comments, and concerns.

Sincerely
